The Store

In 1982 the Koenig Art Emporium expanded its chain of over 100 stores into the Metro West. Soon partnering with Robert Koenig - Bonnie and Rich Thomas became new co-owners of the franchise in Westboro, Massachusetts. It quickly became a popular art supply and custom picture framing location. After a short stint with Charrette Corporation, the store eventually broke free of its partnerships and stood on its own as the Art and Frame Emporium in 2000. In 2011 the Thomas' decided to retire and turned the helm over to their manager, Ed Turner, who runs it successfully today. The store has kept its doors open now for over 32 years!

Today's Owner

In 1986 the store hired Ed Turner right at the beginning of his art and business journey at the Rhode Island School of Design. He graduated in 1990 with a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts and went on to become a successful painter and illustrator. Ed always kept his foot in the door and established himself as the store's educator and professional artist, and in 1991 opened an art lessons business and freelance studio in the center of Westboro. His work is featured in newspapers and magazines nationally. Ed's eye for composition and ability to consult with customers with color matching, woodworking and archival materials made the Art Emporium what it is today - a top shelf establishment in design!

The Customers

With all the unfriendly and rigid corporate structures that stores have today, the Art and Frame Emporium's success comes from how helpful and fun they are to work with. There are not too many places that can genuinely say that today! The staff can usually answer any frame question or art question given to them, and has even been known to give an impromptu lesson! Customers cannot help but want to come back again and again!

The Employees

With the help of Jean Pellerin's attention to detail in papers, fabrics, and art supplies, James McAlice's knowledge of photography and matched skill in design and composition, and Ernie D'Elia's professional skills, oil painting, sculpting, and illustrating - Ed has an unbeatable team of knowledge.
